I alerted those of you in rural America on my email list a few weeks ago that the Obama administration was targeting you in particular. HR 875 has been on my radar this week, I just haven’t gotten around to alerting you to it. There is so much outrage every day (like the GIVE act that conscripts our children into forced “volunteerism”) that sometimes I feel like I’m flooding your inboxes….but let me tell you, this is no time to be concerned about how much email you’re getting. These people in power are drunk with it, and if we don’t stop this madness NOW, we will be consigning ourselves and our children to slavery.
When you think about it, it won’t matter if the socialists don’t manage outlaw your guns if they gain control of your food supply, will it? While the purported purpose of this bill is to increase food safety, a noble goal, this bill is written so vaguely as to criminalize even family gardens if the “food tsar” so determines. Punishments? Million dollar fines, seizure of your property, 10 years in prison. Sound familiar? Well, it worked for Stalin. Ask the Ukraine. (Go read the whole thing.)
And please keep in mind that the SPONSOR OF THIS BILL, (Rosa DeLauro, D-CT) is married to Stanley Greenburg, a former lobbyist for Monsanto. That was 10 years ago, but I think it is legitimate to question whether or not Mr. Greenburg maintains ties, even socially, to Monsanto.
I believe this is all about driving small, family farms out of business and big AG controlling the food supply…I don’t think it is really about “food safety”. Remember, Rahm Emmanuel let the cat out of the bag when he said, “Never let a crisis go to waste”. Using the high-profile food safety cases in the media recently to justify this power grab is a demonstration of that principle in action.
I compiled the following links for more information…some of them have great debates with the PR guy for Monsanto chiming in, along with organic activists who believe genetically-modified food is destructive. I personally don’t have a problem with genetically modified food on principle. I think this is more about money and control. If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the Clinton years and am now again reminded, “FOLLOW THE MONEY“.
Decide for yourself if this doesn’t lay the groundwork for collectivization of farms and the food supply.

When conservatives warned that a democratic Congress, BHO, and their willing accomplices in the media would pull this country to the hard left…and do it very quickly…most of America yawned and passed it off as bitter obstructionism. Well, hold on to your conceptions about our country, and a double-hold on your children.
After nearly nationalizing the banking system, attempting to nationalize America’s energy producers, essentially nationalizing the mortgage market, and profoundly failing at every turn, your government now wants to control charities. You know, they’ve done such a great job with the “War on Poverty” that they might as well go whole-hog and use the resources of the Nation’s vast network of privately run charities, right?
But, smoldering underneath the surface is a hidden agenda more radical than anything they’ve done so far, in the guise of “doing more” for charity.
They are coming for your children.
This is a bill so subtly and vaguely worded that only a bureaucrat could figure out what it means, but I’m going to post here snippets of it along with some excellent explanations. Contrary to the well-parsed response to my complaint that Senator Sherrod Brown wrote me earlier this week, it DOES mean mandatory servitude for my children…we know from experience what happens when unaccountable bureaucrats are given unlimited power.
From the bill itself, a direction to a committee it creates:
“The effect on the Nation, on those who serve, and on the families of those who serve, if all individuals in the United States were expected to perform national service or were required to perform a certain amount of national service. (6) Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service requirement for all able young people could be developed, and how such a requirement could be implemented in a manner that would strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges by bringing together people from diverse economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.”
Don’t want your children spending 50 hours serving ACORN? Tough. Don’t want your college student wasting 100 hours supporting abortion rights? Sorry ’bout your luck. It’s all there, folks. But wait, there’s more from The Voice magazine (h/t: AllAmericanBlogger):
This bill’s title is called “Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education” (GIVE). It forms what some are calling “Obama’s Youth Brigade.” Obama’s plan is require anyone receiving school loans and others to serve at least three months as part of the brigade. His goal is one million youth! This has serious Nazi Germany overtones to it.
The Bill would forbid any student in the brigade to participate in “engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.” That means no church attendance or witnessing.
Again, is this what America voted for? Here is part of the HR1388 Bill’s wording:
SEC. 1304. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.
Section 125 (42 U.S.C. 12575) is amended to read as follows:
SEC. 125. PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES AND INELIGIBLE ORGANIZATIONS.
(a) Prohibited Activities- A participant in an approved national service position under this subtitle may not engage in the following activities:
(1) Attempting to influence legislation.
(2) Organizing or engaging in protests, petitions, boycotts, or strikes.
…(7) Engaging in religious instruction, conducting worship services, providing instruction as part of a program that includes mandatory religious instruction or worship, constructing or operating facilities devoted to religious instruction or worship, maintaining facilities primarily or inherently devoted to religious instruction or worship, or engaging in any form of religious proselytization.
So, how does it feel to watch the Constitution being shredded before your eyes? That’s what’s happening isn’t it? This bill not only marginalizes organized religion, it prohibits the free exercise thereof, in direct violation of the First Amendment. So what’s to keep this bunch of hooligans from eviscerating the rest of the Constitution…maybe some article or right that’s important to you.
This whole thing is disturbing enough, but as a Catholic, I can’t help but fear for my Church. It’s a slippery slope when the government takes control of the charitable activities of your church, let alone conscripts your children into servitude for itself and it’s own ends, but think about this: When the government has the control of the charitable arm of the Church, how long will it be before the government is in control of the Church’s purse strings, and thereafter, the Church itself?

Am I the only person who sees any comparison at all with how today’s media in conjunction with socialist/communist elements within the democrat party works?

My heart is breaking and I don’t know what else to do to relieve the pressure, so I am writing.
My dog has cancer. Splenatic, metastasized. She has days, not weeks. Hopefully the Angel will come for her in her sleep, without trauma, and without the need for artificial means. This is my prayer, but I know I could be put in the heart-wrenching position of determining when enough is enough.
There are folks that I know will not ever understand how a grown woman could be so incredibly upset about losing her dog, but I also know that there are those who understand on the deepest level. Their hearts also bear the scars of losing a beloved pet.
I’m sure everyone says this, but my Perdy is special. Special not only because she has been my constant companion every day, 24/7 for the last 11 years. Special not just because she’s smart, beautiful, loyal, protective, and has a perky personality. She is all those things, and more.
But there is something else. Something for which I owe her a deep debt that will be graven on my heart forever. She saved my daughter.
The day a pedophile (yes, he’s now a known pedophile) pulled into our driveway and tried to see how close he could get to snatching away my daughter, my dog stood between him and my precious girl. Perdy barked in a crazed, aggressive, alert-mode fashion, so loud and insistent, that I ran out the garage door. I arrived just before he got to my then pre-teen daughter.
Had I not entered the scene when I did, there is no doubt in my mind that my dog would have made hamburger meat of his ass. He was about ten feet away from my daughter, but only about four feet away from the dog, and daughter was rather struggling against the leash. Had she let go there would have been blood. And he would have deserved everything Perdy gave him and more.
So you see, plainly, clearly. My dog is special.

My fellow patriots, we cannot continue to be asleep at the wheel. Our country is being corrupted and exposed to great risk, both from without and from within. We need to be prepared. I have always maintained that knowledge is power. Be sure to educate yourself, so that you will have a fighting chance to defend your life and that of your family in the coming days.
I know that sounds crackpot, alarmist, and extreme. And, truthfully, I never believed I would ever have to think those thoughts or write those words. But I am a trend watcher, and I can tell you the trend makes those words rather wise. That Joe Biden the other day didn’t even know the name of Recovery.gov captures the essential tackiness and fraudulence of the website. His blarney was punctured by an unwitting and obscure morning anchor, who asked him innocently: “By the way, do you know the name of the website?” He didn’t.
“Your Money at Work,” the slapped-together site announces, before serving up a dreary menu of slipshod, third-rate populism. “Share your Recovery Story. Tell us how the Recovery Act is affecting you. What’s working? What isn’t? We want to hear from you.”
So Americans now enjoy the privilege of tracking tyranny online, then cobbling together a feckless e-mail to complain about it. “Transparency” means robbing hapless taxpayers in clear sight.
But why even bother to fake up a site if Senator Chuck Schumer is right? Americans, he says, don’t care about this or that “porky” item.
Though a couple of weeks ago Obama had his staff retrieve the phone number of a telegenic grandmother in Florida, this week he wanted to hear from a celebrity. Did you know that Darfur is a “top priority” for this administration? Well, it is; so says celebrity-activist George Clooney. Amidst the buffeting winds of what he tells us is a financial tornado, Obama managed to find some Oval Office time earlier in the week to confer with the actor.
Treating tax dollars like Monopoly money and the globe like a game of Risk played after dinner with visiting stars fits with Obama’s Oprahesque political philosophy. He calls his aphilosophical theory of government “pragmatic”; the Founding Fathers would call it mindless and tyrannical. Any president who says the size of the federal government is an irrelevant question (ask not whether it is “too big,” but whether it is “working,” he said in his inaugural address) is already a tyrant in embryo.
Is it really this easy to hoodwink the American people, the smugness on Obama’s face seems to say? Does it only take a few well-delivered platitudes to nationalize banks, socialize an economy, and compromise a culture?
America is dying but it laughs, as was once said of the Roman Empire. A grinning Obama greets unemployed Americans as they whisk past the memorabilia section of grocery stores in search of Spam to eat on their inaugural commemorative plates.

I’ve thought about this for a long time, but was trying to gel and condense what my gut feelings were telling me. I have understood the vitriolic backlash from the left-wing media over the vice-presidential candidacy of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, but I couldn’t quite get my mind around what it was that some conservatives were so upset about. Lack of experience? Well, they did call Alaska a “backwater” state, which is insulting enough in itself. But then there’s BO, with no experience whatsoever outside of voting “present”, and now he’s busy burning the country down so he can collect the insurance money.
So no, it seems the “lack of experience” thing was a red herring.
Well, some implied she was stupid. (We’re excluding liberals here who flat out declared with righteous indignation that she truly was, in fact, stupid.) I didn’t think that really held water, considering she passed the litmus test that liberals have ensured that we all have to pass…from business owners, to politicians, to school teachers…you’re nobody without a college degree (please don’t let me get started on that one…I’m trying to stay focused here). Sarah has a B.S. in communications-journalism from the University of Idaho, so nope, check that one off the list.
Oh wait…was it that her degree was from another “backwater” state’s university? Maybe. I’m starting to sense a pattern here.
Then there were those horrible, disrespectful interviews with well-known talking heads. Trying to answer questions only the specifically prepared, Jeopardy contestants, and I knew the answers to, was a futile attempt at surviving a media appearance designed to make her look like a lightweight. Considering the circumstances, I thought she handled herself very well. I would have reached out and touched Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric….and I don’t think you could have classified it as a “safe” touch. Anyway, it was obvious to me that she was set-up. The question was, by who? We expect the MSM to act like condescending school marms trying to show all of us how much smarter they are than us poor, miserable plebes. So, with that thought in mind we can only conclude that her “handlers” in the McCain campaign may have had something to do with those disastrous “interviews”.
So who’s side were they on, anyway? (Getting warmer).
We also heard whispers of sexism. (I absolutely buy this, but it’s not the whole story). A beautiful, intelligent, accomplished, young woman with a track record that falls to the right is a moving target in this country. It really doesn’t matter if she’s the Governor of Alaska, or running for the local school board, or moving up the ranks of private business. She’s a target. The older, uglier, less competent, less confident women are flat-out jealous. Younger women are looking for a way to steal her position. Men are all over the place. Some are impressed-but-guarded, others terrified. Some realize the threat she poses, but most just want a peek up her skirt. All of them seek to destroy her, some for reasons not listed. And seemingly none can just accept her at face value. How do I know? I’ve been there, and so have some of you.
Well okay, so sexism seems to have played a large part. But it goes beyond that even.
It goes straight to something we haven’t talked about in this country because not many really want to believe it still happens here, but frankly, it’s plain and simple snobbery.
Or elitism. Or whatever you wanna call it when somebody thinks they’re better than somebody else. It’s a festering, destructive disease, and most of those in power have it, no matter what side of the aisle they’re on. It’s a disease closely related to visions of grandiosity and to the desperate need for power over others.
It’s a disease that our country was founded to vanquish, but sadly has fallen victim to, much as the mother-country did.
I realize this post was long, and I thank you for reading it. But I am going to ask you to read more.
Thomas Sowell penned an excellent column on this theory which gets to the point faster and more clearly than I ever could. I suggest you ruminate on it awhile.

In today’s column, Ann Coulter actually talks about education, a subject near and dear to my heart. As you know, I have no love for public schools, and with Governor Strickland now proposing to cut funding for charter schools, I have no love for the governor.
Anyway, the first three paragraphs are killer funny, but her observations in the rest of the column about democrats RUINING American education are dead on. An educated populace is a democrat’s worst enemy, so guess what? Democrats in control of the education establishment really, really, don’t care if your kid is able to do the same complex math that a kid in Lichtenstein does in his sleep. And they especially don’t want your kid to understand the history of his own country (especially with the white guys included) or the doctrine of American Exceptionalism. You see, public education doesn’t have the goal of educating students. It has the goal of indoctrinating them….just in case they don’t make it to college where indoctrination is assured.
Please don’t take the following as any kind of judgment about your parenting abilities or your commitment to your kid.

I’m just pointing out that all our kids deserve BETTER than what they’ve been offered in the public school system.
After you read this, it might be more apparent why we have forgone much in our lives to teach our daughter at home (in a charter school) the last three years and to send her to Catholic school.

Even Gov. Bobby Jindal, whom I suppose I should note was the first Indian-American to give the Republican response to a president’s speech, began with an encomium to the first black president. (Wasn’t Bobby great in “Slumdog Millionaire”?)
Are we going to have to hear about this for the next four years? Obama is becoming the Cal Ripken Jr. of presidents, making history every time he suits up for a game. Recently, Obama also became the first African-American president to order a ham sandwich late at night from the White House kitchen! That’s going to get old pretty quick.
But as long as the nation is obsessed with historic milestones, is no one going to remark on what a great country it is where a mentally retarded woman can become speaker of the house?

You need to know about the “Fairness” doctrine and what’s up with it.
I know some of you aren’t fans of Rush Limbaugh. I don’t understand that, but hey, to each his own.
However, Mr. Limbaugh has penned one of the best letters to the President about the so-called “Fairness Doctrine” that I’ve seen. It is worth a read if you are interested in maintaining YOUR access to the marketplace of ideas. So go read it.
Keep in mind that currently, what is known as the mainstream media (and Hollywood) is completely dominated by liberalism. They censor what you hear, read, and watch to promote their own ideas and policies. Their goal is nothing less than the election of democrat candidates and the furtherance of far-left, socialist, even communist policies. Never mind that most of America does not believe in these policies. They
are clever in their attempts to sugarcoat, obfuscate, and downright lie about what their intentions, beliefs and the results of their actions actually are. The masters of the media are expert in making you think that the government itself and the socialism it’s rocketing toward is a good thing.
You will not hear a sniff of this on the network news, but what the government wants to do is to censor the free speech of talk radio and the internet with a revitalization of the so-called “Fairness Doctrine”. The idea behind this is to force broadcasters to carry unprofitable, liberal talk radio on currently successful talk radio stations across the country. “Equal time” they say. Equal time? When is NBC gonna give me just simply
unbiased news reporting? I’m not even asking for a conservative slant….I’m asking for a true lack of bias!

The bottom line is, liberal talk radio stations have fallen like flies because NOBODY LISTENS TO THEIR PROGRAMMING! Liberals listen to NPR. The American people already fund a liberal talk radio station, but the “fairness” doctrine dummies want ALL talk radio stations to carry liberal shows…whether it is marketable or not. The goal is simply to destroy conservative talk radio. Period.
So what’s next? Hmmmm, I don’t hear Kanye on my local country & western station. I WANT THE GOVERNMENT TO MAKE THEM PLAY KANYE!!! They need to have a gangsta-rap show every day during 5:00 drive time! No! wait! I want them to play world dance music during morning drive time…that really gets me going first thing!

With the exception of Defense, shut the damn government down for six entire months. Congress go home, Bambi have your cocktail parties. Six months.
In the meantime, AMERICANS will spend all that money. Responsible Americans will pay off all their debts and credit cards…end of the housing crisis. Hopeless idiots will blow it…consumerism’s back! Homeless folks could get themselves into one of those $3000 houses in Detroit and start repopulating the city, which will then begin to be able to collect taxes again. Wealthy bigwigs could give theirs to charity and take the big tax deduction…charities are back in the black.

Crisis over. But then, what good would that do? Without a crisis, the socialist democrat party can’t grab power over our daily lives. Hmm.
